The Geek Goddesses, Book 1: Selma Takes The Stage
Best friends Selma, Laci, and Maritza aren’t exactly “A-list” when it comes to popularity. Back in the third grade, the girls stumbled upon a mysterious hidden fountain in their school courtyard. The fountain was dedicated to the Goddesses Eccentrica who, as the girls discover, were Geeks just like them. Our heroines, Selma, Laci, and Maritza, decided to form their own Goddess club and, voilà, the Geek Goddesses, aka the GGs, were born. Each year they make a wish at the fountain to be best friends forever.
Fast forward to 6th grade when Selma, an accomplished violinist, decides to go against the GGs’ “Rules for Wishing”, and makes a secret wish at the fountain: to become a famous musician. As soon as she does, her life turns topsy-turvy—literally. She must go bow to bow against her orchestra rival, the snooty but talented Mavis Chen to win a coveted audition. And if this isn’t enough, she nearly gets a concussion when Rajiv Gupta, a 12-year-old, skateboard-riding, Mohawk-wearing world-famous cello player slams into her outside of orchestra rehearsal. As Selma and Raj go from being competitors to friends, Selma begins to experience tension with her best friends, Laci and Maritza, which could mean the end of the GGs.
Can the Goddesses Eccentrica save their friendship?
“Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it—in ways you never expected.”
